Becoming a Part of the Worship Ministry

Celebration Choir

Prerequisites:  Active attender, a commitment to faithfully attend rehearsals and performance dates.

Job Description:  Celebration choir members attend three monthly rehearsals on the second, third, and fourth Tuesdays of the month (unless noted differently on schedule) and lead in worship the fourth weekend of the month at our Saturday night service, two Central services, and South campus as well.  Team members must maintain a positive, worshipping presence while singing, listen to provided music CDs regularly, and faithfully attend all rehearsals.  While at rehearsals, choir members are to be team players, respectful, and to maintain a strong Christian witness in the community. 

Worship Band

Prerequisites:  Church membership, audition acceptance - Adults (high school graduates) who are accomplished musicians and possess relevant instrumental music experience (ex: high school or college band, previous church or band experience) are welcomed to schedule an audition with Worship Pastor, Derek Overton.  The audition is a three step process.  First, the person audition will conduct a verbal interview with Pastor Derek to discuss spiritual and musical history.  Second, the person auditioning will play his/her instrument in front of a panel of current band members.  Third, the person auditioning will be allowed to play as a trial period in one of our weekend services.  Student players are welcome to contact Darren Libby, youth worship leader, to learn more about this exciting ministry at Darren@parkviewlife.com.

Vocal Team

Prerequisites:  Church membership, three months faithful attendance to Celebration Choir and continued participation in Celebration Choir, audition acceptance - Adults (high school graduates) who are accomplished musicians and possess relevant vocall music experience (ex: high school or college band, previous church or band experience) are welcomed to schedule an audition with Worship Pastor, Derek Overton.  The audition is a three step process.  First, the person audition will conduct a verbal interview with Pastor Derek to discuss spiritual and musical history.  Second, the person auditioning will sing a short, acapella solo in front of a panel of current vocalists.  Third, the person auditioning will be allowed to sing as a trial period in one of our weekend services.  Student vocalists are welcome to contact Darren Libby, youth worship leader, to learn more about this exciting ministry at

Job Description:  For our Central Campus Bands, rehearsals are held each Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, in the Worship Center.  Our Central Campus has two rotating bands that lead in worship every-other-week.  The bands play for our Saturday night 6:00PM service as well as our Sunday morning 9:00 and 10:30AM services.  Our South Campus band plays every week and rehearses after our 11:45AM Sunday morning worship service at Old Kings Elementary School.  Band members will be given music to listen to in advance before rehearsals.  By reading chord charts at rehearsals, band members are to be ready to play, not learn, their music.  The purpose of rehearsals is to play together, arrange, and sharpen already practiced music.  Worship band members will be exposed to a variety of musical stylings and must function well in a team environment and display a strong Christian witness to the community.  Most importantly, band members must a biblical knowledge of what true worship is.  Band members lead people in worship.  They don't perform music for music's sake. 

Orchestra

Prerequisites:  Church Membership, Adults who are accomplished musicians and possess relevant instrumental music experience and the ability to read music (ex: high school or college band, previous church or band experience), basic audition determined by orchestra director
Job Description:  Our orchestra accompanies our praise band once a month, typically the fourth weekend of the month.  They also play for special services, holiday events or as needed for additional worship services.  On weeks scheduled, orchestra members attend the Tuesday night, before, rehearsal at 7:30pm.  Sheet music is emailed in advance to participating members so that they can be prepared to play, not learn, music during rehearsal.  Orchestra members are expected to practice at home to maintain their musical "chops."  Orchestra members will be exposed to a variety of musical stylings and must function well in a team environment and display a strong Christian witness to the community.  Most importantly, orchestra members must have a biblical knowledge of what true worship is.  Orchestra members lead people in worship.  They don't perform music for music's sake. 
 

Acts of Praise Drama

Prerequisites:  Active attendee, Previous drama experience (church, community theatre, school, etc.)  Adults, youth, and occasionally children are welcomed to participate
Job Description:  The Acts of Praise drama team performs approximately once a month for our weekend worship services.  Depending on skill and experience level, participants are given small to challenging drama roles.  Parkview's drama ministry is a pool of individuals that we choose from to meet a specific need for each given drama performed.  Strong team skills are needed as well as a commitment to excellence.  Once a drama is selected, you will be contacted to review a script and then to accept the drama.  Depending on the difficulty of a drama, participants typically rehearse three or four Monday nights at 7:00PM before the weekend of a drama performance.  In addition, participants perform for all our of our weekend services.  

Children's Choir

Prerequisites:  Children age 5-12
Job Description:  Parents, your children will love being a part of our Parkview Kids Choir.  The choir rehearses during part of the Parkview Kids University Children's service on Wednesday nights at 6:45PM.  The choir performs a musical annually at Christmas and sings throughout the year in our weekend worship services.

Tech Team

Prerequisites:  Active Attendee, contemporary church experience with sound, lighting, or media equipment
Job Description:  The Technical Arts ministry at Parkview is designed to deliver the Good News of Jesus Christ to people inside and outside the walls of Parkview.   This outreach uses video, audio, and lighting, to communicate God's message and His mission.  There is a place for you in this ministry. If you love technology there is always room on our technical teams.  Our team members work together to put vibrant, clear and artistic images on the projection screen, offer clear sound, and visually pleasing lighting design to help the congregation to be a part of the service.

Tech team members work at three specific work times:  For Saturday night, techs arrive at 4:30PM for combined rehearsals and work at our 6:00PM service.  Saturday night techs also attend our Tuesday evening Worship Band Rehearsal at 7:30PM on the weeks they are scheduled to serve.  For Sunday mornings at Parkview Central, techs arrive at 8:30AM and work during our 9:00AM,10:30AM, and 12:00PM services. 

Set Building/Stage Design

Job Description:  The sky is the limit when it comes to unleashing your creative potential on stage with our sets.  Whether a fishing boat, a winter wonderland, or a peaceful cross scene, Parkview's stage is always set to enhance the worship environment of our weekend attendees.  Those with carpentry skills are invited to be a part of this fun ministry.

Creative Writing

Job Description:  Creative writers fill vital roles in many aspects of our church dynamic beyond worship ministry.  If you possess creative writing talents, there are article writing needs for publications as well as the opportunity to write curriculum and devotionals as well. 

Web Development

Prerequisites:  Active attendee, web development experience in a professional setting
Job Description:  Web development encompasses two important facets:  verbal content and design content.  In regards to verbal content, there are opportunities to help within the church office to upload verbal information to the web page.  While there is not a lot of web design experience required, a key knowledge of writing and the English language are a must.  In regards to design content, those helping with web design for the church web page will be asked to produce production samples and must have a working knowledge of some facet of web software design (ex. Adobe Dream Weaver, flash programming, etc.) 
 
Visual Arts

Prerequisites:  Active attendee, appropriate artistic, photographic, or video equipment
Job Description:  By using the arts, visual artist help to provide illustrative photography for worship services or web or produce Christian related art to enhance our worship experiences or environments in our adult, youth, and children services.
